Emergency crews responded to a serious two-car crash early Tuesday morning at the intersection of Stewarts Corners Road and Myers Road in the town of Genoa, according to the Genoa Volunteer Fire Department.
The call came in shortly after 6:30 a.m., with Cayuga County 911 dispatching Genoa Rescue, Southern Cayuga Instant Aid, and automatic mutual aid from the King Ferry Fire Department. Multiple Genoa Fire Department vehicles and chiefs responded, along with Engine 2.
Upon arrival, the first chief confirmed the severity of the crash and requested LifeNet medivac and a second ALS ambulance. All available manpower from Genoa was activated to assist.
According to the fire department, one person had self-extricated from their vehicle, while a second patient was partially ejected from the other car. Crews performed an extrication and provided medical care, while also securing hazards at the scene.
In addition to Genoa and King Ferry crews, the department thanked LifeNet of New York, Locke Fire & Rescue, Four Town Ambulance, Long Hill Chiefs, and the New York State Police for their assistance on scene.
The incident was cleared and units were back in service shortly after 8 a.m.
