Congresswoman Claudia Tenney has released a new agriculture plan aimed at boosting Upstate New York’s farming economy and defending American farmland from foreign ownership.
Tenney, who represents NY-24—the largest agricultural district in the Northeast—announced the plan on Thursday. Her district includes major dairy producers, apple orchards, maple syrup operations, and the vineyards and orchards of the Finger Lakes.
“Our farms are not just the heart of our economy but the heart of our communities,” Tenney said. “This plan delivers real solutions for our rural communities and protects the future of American agriculture.”
The plan highlights several priorities:
- Strengthening dairy and specialty crop production
- Opening new markets for local farmers
- Protecting farmland from foreign adversaries
NY-24 ranks fifth nationally for dairy and includes Wayne County, the country’s third-largest apple-producing county.
