A woman is facing felony charges after deputies say she drove drunk with a child in the car on Wednesday evening in the Town of Italy.
Deputies arrested 33-year-old Alissa M. Cota of Naples after stopping her vehicle on State Route 245 around 7:05 p.m. They say she was driving erratically and had a child passenger under the age of 16.
Cota is charged with felony aggravated DWI under Leandra’s Law, along with several other offenses. Those include driving with a blood alcohol content of 0.18% or higher, endangering the welfare of a child, and obstruction of governmental administration. She also faces multiple vehicle and traffic violations.
According to the sheriff’s office, Cota tried to physically resist being taken into custody. Deputies say she showed signs of intoxication and failed field sobriety tests at the scene.
She was taken to the Yates County Jail and held for arraignment.
