Geneva Council shot down a push to cut property taxes by $900,000 next year, according to Finger Lakes Times.
Councilor Chris Lavin called for the reduction, warning the city’s high taxes are driving out residents and stalling development. Only one other member supported the move in a 6-2 vote.
Critics argued the proposal lacked clear cuts and could hurt city services. Lavin says the real budget talks start next month — and plans to keep pushing.
