Penn Yan to get new $3.5M community health center

A major investment is coming to Penn Yan as Finger Lakes Community Health (FLCH) prepares to build a new, state-of-the-art health center just north of town.

FLCH announced this week it has secured a $3.5 million grant from the New York State Health Care Facility Transformation Program. The funding will support the construction of a modern healthcare facility on North Main Street, next to the Yates Community Center.

The new center will replace FLCH’s existing site on Kimball Avenue and expand services to include medical, dental, behavioral health, and care management — all under one roof.

“This new and expanded facility will allow us to provide our staff and patients with the best health care experience,” said Mary Zelazny, CEO of FLCH. “We’re also excited to collaborate with the Yates Community Center on wellness programs for the whole community.”

Design and planning are already underway, with construction expected to begin in early 2026. FLCH anticipates opening the doors to patients in early 2027.

The new facility will prioritize patient comfort, accessibility, and modern medical infrastructure — all part of a broader effort to improve healthcare access in rural parts of the Finger Lakes.
