The Seneca County Sheriff’s Office conducted a speed enforcement detail last week in response to citizen complaints and traffic data identifying East Lake Road as a speeding hotspot.
On August 1, deputies were stationed in the Towns of Fayette and Varick as part of a grant-funded effort to crack down on aggressive driving. The department reported visible patrols and direct engagement with numerous motorists to enforce speed limits and promote safer driving.
“These speed enforcement details will continue at various locations throughout Seneca County to reduce aggressive driving and speeding vehicles,” the department said in its release.
Sheriff Timothy J. Thompson, Jr. thanked residents for reporting the issue. “We are going to continue traffic enforcement in the numerous areas identified throughout Seneca County,” he said. “Keeping our roadways safe is one of our primary goals.”
