Lysander man arrested after reported theft from Cato convenience store

A Lysander man has been arrested following a shoplifting incident at the Speedway Mart in Cato, according to the Cayuga County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies say 30-year-old Austin J. Bierce was taken into custody on September 10 after turning himself in when he saw patrol cars along Route 370.

The arrest stems from a September 7 incident, where Bierce allegedly entered the store around 12:51 p.m. and left with merchandise without paying. Deputies were unable to locate him at the time, leading to a warrant being issued.

Bierce was charged with petit larceny, a misdemeanor, and was transported to the Cayuga County Public Safety Building for processing and arraignment.
