July gas prices lowest in four years

Drivers across New York enjoyed unusually low gas prices in July, according to AAA. The national average settled at $3.15 per gallon — matching July 2021 levels and marking the cheapest midsummer fill-up since then.

In New York, the average price remained steady at $3.17, with slight weekly drops in most regions. Syracuse saw a minor uptick, while Watertown recorded the biggest dip, falling two cents to $3.16. Despite modest increases in crude oil and fuel demand, prices at the pump stayed stable.

Diesel prices hovered at $3.92 statewide, unchanged from last week. AAA attributes the affordability to balanced demand and steady supply, offering some relief for summer travelers.
