A Newark man is facing multiple charges after allegedly trying to flee police during a traffic stop early Saturday morning in Waterloo.
According to the Waterloo Police Department, Brian D. Vanwinkle, 32, was arrested around 2:15 a.m. on August 2 for aggravated unlicensed operation in the second degree and operating with a suspended registration.
Officers say they attempted to pull Vanwinkle over when they discovered his vehicle’s registration was suspended due to a lack of insurance. During the stop, Vanwinkle allegedly attempted to flee, committing several additional traffic violations.
He was ultimately issued uniform traffic tickets for operating with a suspended registration and aggravated unlicensed operation—both misdemeanors—along with citations for operating without insurance, failure to stop at a stop sign, failure to yield to an emergency vehicle, unsafe tires, and no front plate.
Vanwinkle is scheduled to appear in the Town of Waterloo Court at a later date.
