New York solar companies are scrambling to meet surging demand before a federal tax credit for residential solar ends in December, according to Spectrum News. The rollback comes from President Donald Trump’s newly signed “One Big Beautiful Bill,” cutting the credit years earlier than expected.
Installers like Brooklyn SolarWorks say customers are rushing to secure the 30% credit while it lasts, but industry leaders warn of layoffs and slowed investment once the incentive disappears. The move follows recent cuts to state-level solar funding, further straining the sector.
Governor Hochul’s office criticized the federal rollback, saying New York can’t fully offset the cuts but remains committed to clean energy expansion.
