Hammondsport has officially been added to the National Register of Historic Places, a move that opens the door to tax credits and preservation grants, according to the Corning Leader. The expanded historic district now includes over 300 structures across nearly the entire village.
The designation offers homeowners and businesses tax incentives of up to 50% for approved restoration projects. Officials hope it will spark investment and protect the village’s rich architectural and industrial legacy—from wine and railroads to aviation.
This recognition coincides with a $9.7 million redevelopment of the old Curtiss School and several other NY Forward-backed community upgrades.
