Geneva residents spoke out Thursday against a proposed 74-unit, five-story housing development by Lakeview Health Services, criticizing its size, location, and long-term tax breaks. The project would reserve half its units for low-income individuals with mental health or substance use challenges.
Local business owners and neighbors argued the development would worsen parking, harm tourism, and concentrate poverty in a struggling area. Critics also slammed the 30-year payment-in-lieu-of-taxes (PILOT) deal as unfair to taxpayers.
No decision was made at Friday’s IDA meeting. A vote on the PILOT is expected next month, with additional Planning and Zoning Board hearings scheduled in July.
