A Syracuse-based developer is requesting a 14-year tax break to help transform the former Citizen building in Auburn into a mixed-use complex, according to The Citizen. Washington St. Partners wants $353,000 in relief through a PILOT agreement to support its $3.6 million renovation of the Dill Street property.
Plans for the renamed Dill St. Commons include office, retail, restaurant, and medical space. The project has already started construction and is expected to be tenant-ready by early 2026. Officials say the deal could make downtown more vibrant while reducing future tenant costs.
The Auburn Industrial Development Authority will review the proposal on July 16 and could vote by late August.
