Drivers in Auburn will face lane closures as Finger Lakes Railway begins replacing a railroad crossing near the former Bombardier plant. According to The Citizen, the project kicks off July 7 and will close the Arterial’s westbound lanes between North Division and Washington streets first.
Each side of the road is expected to take up to two weeks to complete. Once the westbound lanes reopen, eastbound lanes will close. Detours will guide traffic through North Street, York Street, and North Division.
The upgrades aim to improve both rail and road conditions and will precede a larger $20 million Arterial and Route 5 repaving project slated for 2026.
