Sabres sign forwards Justin Danforth, Tyson Kozak to multi-year contracts

The Buffalo Sabres have signed winger Justin Danforth to a two-year contract worth $1.8 million annually, per TSN’s Bob McKenzie.

Danforth, 32, joins Buffalo after spending his NHL career with the Columbus Blue Jackets, where he recorded 31 goals and 64 points in 183 games.

In addition to Danforth, the Sabres re-signed their former 2021 draft pick Tyson Kozak to a three-year deal carrying a $775,000 cap hit. Kozak, 22, played 21 games for Buffalo in 2024-25, tallying three goals and five points.

The Sabres have been relatively quiet in free agency, with goaltender Alex Lyon as their other notable addition. Meanwhile, trade speculation continues to swirl around restricted free agent defenseman Bowen Byram as Buffalo looks to bolster its roster and end its 14-year playoff drought.
