A Middlesex man faces multiple charges, including a felony, after a traffic stop in Yates County led to his arrest for driving while intoxicated Friday evening.
The Yates County Sheriff’s Office said deputies stopped William R. Lanphear, 59, on State Route 247 in the Village of Rushville around 5:41 p.m. for a vehicle and traffic violation.
During the stop, deputies said Lanphear showed signs of intoxication and was subjected to standardized field sobriety tests before being taken into custody. He was transported to the Yates County Jail, where he submitted to a chemical test.
Lanphear was charged with aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, a felony, along with misdemeanor driving while intoxicated, driving with a blood alcohol content of 0.08% or higher, operating an uninspected motor vehicle, and consumption of alcohol in a motor vehicle.
Authorities said he was held pending arraignment in Yates County CAP Court and is scheduled to appear in the Town of Potter Court at a later date.
