A major infrastructure project in the Village of Newark is among those submitted for potential federal funding by Congresswoman Claudia Tenney as part of the fiscal year 2027 budget process.
Tenney announced a slate of 20 projects submitted through the Community Project Funding program, including a $2.5 million request for reconstruction of North Main Street in Newark .
The proposed project would include streetscape upgrades such as new sidewalks and lighting, along with water and sewer line improvements aimed at enhancing safety, utility reliability and overall infrastructure. Officials said the corridor serves as a key gateway into the village and supports access to schools, healthcare facilities and downtown revitalization efforts.
Local leaders said the investment would improve drainage, modernize aging infrastructure and strengthen connections tied to Newark’s ongoing redevelopment initiatives.
Tenney said the funding requests were shaped by local priorities and focused on infrastructure, public safety, clean water and economic development projects across her district.
The Newark project is one of several proposed investments across upstate New York competing for federal support in the upcoming budget cycle.
