A disturbance at a short-term rental in Palmyra drew a multi-agency police response after a gathering grew far beyond what was authorized, prompting concerns about potential property damage.
Palmyra police said officers were dispatched April 9 to a residence on East Charlotte Avenue, where a home rented for about 15 people had swelled to nearly double that number, leading to tensions when some attendees refused to leave.
Authorities said several individuals became hostile and made threats to damage the property, prompting the initial 911 call before any damage occurred. After assessing the size of the crowd, Palmyra police requested assistance from the Macedon Police Department and New York State Police.
Officers reported that all parties dispersed upon their arrival, and the situation was resolved without further incident. Police noted the property owner was unaware the gathering had grown beyond the agreed-upon limits.
Officials also reminded short-term rental owners to set clear occupancy limits, monitor activity, and contact law enforcement early if problems arise.
