St. Stephen’s Roman Catholic Church in Geneva may soon gain state and national recognition, according to the Finger Lakes Times. It’s one of 20 New York properties recommended for inclusion on the State and National Registers of Historic Places.
The complex reflects a range of architectural styles from over 50 years of growth, including Gothic Revival and Tudor Revival. A former school on the site is being converted into housing, with developers seeking historic tax credits to aid the project.
State officials say registry listings connect owners with grants and tax incentives. If approved, St. Stephen’s would join more than 128,000 historic sites already recognized statewide.
