An Ithaca man faces multiple charges after police say he assaulted a woman and his 9-year-old son during a domestic incident Monday night in Seneca Falls.
Thomas F. Knight was arrested at 10 p.m. after police responded to a report of a domestic disturbance. According to investigators, Knight pushed both the woman and the child to the ground and struck them with closed fists. A second child witnessed the assault.
The 9-year-old was able to flee and seek help from a neighbor, who contacted authorities. Emergency crews evaluated both victims at the scene. Their injuries were described as minor.
Knight was charged with two counts of attempted assault in the third degree, attempted criminal obstruction of breathing, harassment in the second degree, two counts of endangering the welfare of a child, and one count of aggravated family offense due to a prior conviction. While in custody, he allegedly damaged police department property and was additionally charged with criminal mischief.
Knight was transported to the Seneca County Correctional Facility to await arraignment. Police requested an order of protection for the victims.
