A celebrated golf course in Walworth, New York, will be downsized to nine holes next season, sparking unease among members and neighbors, according to News10NBC. Blue Heron Golf Club, once played by legends like Jack Nicklaus and Arnold Palmer, is now under new ownership eyeing housing development.
The property’s new owner, Jason Calder, has yet to submit a proposal, but a company linked to his father is promoting home construction using course imagery. Residents like Joyce Stadmiller, who has lived alongside the fairways for 26 years, worry about property values and losing scenic views.
Club members have launched a petition nearing 800 signatures, demanding transparency after owners dodged development questions during recent meetings. No formal application has been filed with the town of Walworth.
