Families, nature lovers, and curious minds are invited to explore the wonders of nocturnal insects at a free “Moth Blacklighting” event hosted by the Seneca Meadows Education Center on Friday, June 27.
The event begins at 5:00 p.m. at 1977 NYS Route 414 in Waterloo with a spaghetti dinner and educational presentation about moths and their vital role in the ecosystem. Afterward, participants will head to the Seneca Meadows Wetland Preserve at 1712 Black Brook Road for blacklighting activities to observe moths and other night-flying insects.
Organizers encourage individuals, families, groups, and especially those from under-represented communities to attend. Although the event is free, space is limited and registration is required by June 24. To register, visit this link.
The program is supported by the National Audubon Society, whose mission is to protect birds and their habitats through science, advocacy, and education.
