Gananda school board cuts budget significantly after voter rejection

The Gananda Central School Board has cut $210,000 from its proposed budget after voters rejected the original plan, according to WHAM. The revised budget eliminates two new staff positions and now falls under the district’s tax levy limit.

Superintendent Shawn Van Scoy said concerns over tax increases may have driven the initial defeat, though no clear reason was confirmed. A public hearing on the updated budget is scheduled for June 5, with a re-vote set for June 17.

The board hopes the adjustments will secure community approval.
