Judge rejects challenge to Clyde-Savannah books

A state judge has dismissed a legal bid to ban five books from Clyde-Savannah’s school library, according to the Finger Lakes Times. The court sided with state education officials and upheld the school board’s decision to restore the titles after initially removing them.

Rev. Jacob Marchitell and Moms for Liberty sought to label books like It Ends with Us as obscene, but Judge Denise Hartman found they retained literary or educational value. She ruled the school board acted within its authority and that the challenge failed to meet the legal standard for obscenity.

While the plaintiffs won’t pursue further appeals, they criticized union pressure on the district.
