Lansing breaks ground on $22M public works facility

The town of Lansing has officially launched construction of a new $22 million highway department facility, according to Tompkins Weekly. The project is designed to modernize infrastructure and meet the town’s growing public works needs.

Spanning over 43,000 square feet, the new building will house a larger fleet of vehicles and provide expanded office space, absorbing the Planning & Codes Department and relieving overcrowded town offices. Completion is expected by fall 2026, with plans for modern fuel tracking systems and cold equipment storage.

Officials say the project, years in the making, will serve the town for the next 50 years, providing safer work conditions and supporting Lansing’s expanding infrastructure and population.
