Huron to honor Revolutionary War veterans with new markers

  • / Updated:
  • Staff Report

As Huron prepares for its 200th anniversary, the town will honor its Revolutionary War heroes with Patriot Burial markers at two local cemeteries.

Huron Evergreen Cemetery and York Settlement Cemetery will each receive a marker recognizing veterans who served during America’s fight for independence. Among the honored are Roswell Green, Thomas Hale, and Darius Howard. Memorial Day and June ceremonies are planned to unveil the markers.

Local historians and organizations worked with the Pomeroy Foundation to secure funding and verify service records—preserving history ahead of the nation’s 250th birthday.
