A 19-year-old Waterloo woman was airlifted to Strong Memorial Hospital Sunday night following a two-vehicle crash in the Town of Phelps, according to the Ontario County Sheriff’s Office.
The collision occurred at the intersection of County Road 6 and State Route 96 when 18-year-old Destiny Robinson of Clifton Springs attempted a left turn and failed to yield the right of way to an eastbound vehicle driven by Marissa Ohearn, 19, of Waterloo.
Ohearn sustained serious but non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to Rochester by Mercy Flight. Her passenger, 18-year-old Mackenzie Shafer of Lyons, was taken to Strong Memorial Hospital by Phelps Ambulance for evaluation and treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
Robinson was transported to Clifton Springs Hospital by Finger Lakes EMS, also with non-life-threatening injuries.
Deputies issued Robinson a ticket for failure to yield the right of way while making a left turn. Ohearn was ticketed for failure to wear a seat belt.
The crash remains under investigation. The Ontario County Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by New York State Police, Oaks Corners Fire Department, Phelps EMS, and Finger Lakes EMS.
