Alt-rock band X Ambassadors will kick off a 10-year anniversary tour for their debut album “VHS” with two hometown shows in Ithaca this September, according to the Ithaca Journal. The band also announced a reimagined version of “VHS,” revisiting hit songs like “Renegades” and “Unsteady.”
Formed in 2009 by a group of Ithaca natives, X Ambassadors built their early fan base playing local gigs before gaining national fame. Frontman Sam Nelson Harris reflected on the chaos of making the original album, much of it recorded in cramped, on-the-go spaces.
Since “VHS,” the band has released multiple albums and appeared in film and TV soundtracks, recently reconnecting with their roots through their 2024 album Townie, which celebrates Ithaca’s community and spirit.
