Concerned Citizens of NY24, along with Hemlock Rising, will host a public forum Friday in Hemlock to discuss the healthcare impacts of recent federal actions.
The event will take place May 9 from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the Little Lakes Community Center, 4705 S Main St., with doors opening at 6:30 p.m. Organizers emphasized that the forum is non-partisan and focused on fostering civil discussion about proposed federal cuts and actions affecting healthcare and social programs.
The forum follows ongoing concerns from constituents in New York’s 24th Congressional District. According to organizers, the goal is to provide a platform where residents can voice their concerns and ask questions, hoping that Congressional Representative Claudia Tenney will take their views into account.
Previous forums have drawn hundreds of community members and have maintained a respectful and civil tone. Friday’s forum will feature a panel of distinguished experts: Anne Ruflin, BS, MBA, former President and CEO of FLCCN; David Breen, MD; Matthew Guilfoil, LCSW; and Serena Kniffin, LMSW.
Representative Tenney has been invited to attend and participate in the forum. As of the time of the announcement, organizers said she had not responded to the invitation, which was hand-delivered to her Canandaigua office. However, her office has previously issued responses to other press outlets regarding town hall meetings.
