A 57-year-old Ovid man was arrested Monday after allegedly threatening to stab a man and initiating a violent altercation at a business in the Town of Waterloo, according to the Seneca County Sheriff’s Office.
Robert J. Doane was taken into custody on June 2 and charged with attempted assault in the second degree, menacing in the second degree, criminal possession of a weapon in the fourth degree, and harassment in the second degree.
Deputies say the incident began when Doane allegedly threatened a male victim with a knife before starting a physical fight. During the confrontation, Doane reportedly displayed the knife, escalating the situation.
The victim was transported to Geneva General Hospital for treatment of injuries sustained during the altercation. Doane was taken to the Seneca County Correctional Facility to await arraignment at CAP Court.
New York State Police and the New York State Park Police assisted at the scene.
