The Auburn Police Department is thanking residents near Grant Avenue Plaza and Standart Woods Apartments for their help in safely locating a missing elderly individual on Wednesday. Officers were able to contact the family and reunite the individual with their loved ones thanks to community assistance.
Following the incident, the department highlighted the importance of Project Lifesaver—a rapid response initiative designed to assist individuals with Alzheimer’s disease, dementia, or autism who may wander and become lost.
The program utilizes advanced tracking technology and specially trained law enforcement officers to locate at-risk individuals quickly and safely. In Cayuga County, the Sheriff’s Office oversees the administration of Project Lifesaver.
Police are encouraging families caring for vulnerable loved ones to learn more about the program as a proactive safety measure.
