The eleventh-ranked William Smith lacrosse team delivered a dominant performance in a 17-5 win over eighteenth-ranked Ithaca on Wednesday evening at Boswell Field. With the victory, the Herons improved to 9-3 overall and remain unbeaten in Liberty League play at 6-0.
Junior midfielder Natalie Daniels led the charge with six goals and one assist, adding 14 draw controls and three ground balls. Sophomore Kira Fulton contributed two goals and four assists, while senior Kate Colvin posted a hat trick and two assists. The Herons took control after a 3-3 first quarter, closing the game on a 14-2 run. William Smith outshot Ithaca 36-15 and held a 21-5 advantage in draw controls.
The Herons’ defense stifled the Bombers, who entered the game averaging nearly 13 goals per contest. William Smith held Ithaca to just five goals and a season-low 15 shots. Senior goalie Maura Smeader made five saves in a complete-game effort.
With her 14 draw controls, Daniels became just the second player in program history to surpass 300 career draws.
The Herons, who have now won 47 straight home games, will host Bard on Saturday, April 12, at 1 p.m.
