The Village of Cato will hold its annual Spring Clean Up Day on Saturday, April 19, giving residents a chance to dispose of large household items—but with strict regulations in place.
All items must be placed at the curb no later than 7:00 a.m. the day of pickup. The cleanup is strictly for large furnishings and appliances like sofas, beds, tables, washers, and dryers. Smaller items such as clothing and books must be boxed or bagged to ensure safe and efficient collection.
Regular household garbage, recyclables, brush, leaves, electronic devices, tires, and wooden pallets will not be accepted. Televisions and computers must be taken to separate countywide recycling events. Only one pickup truck load per parcel will be allowed.
Refrigerators, freezers, and dehumidifiers will be collected only if tagged by a certified technician indicating Freon has been removed. Each household is limited to one such appliance. Air conditioning units will not be picked up.
Branches tied in four-foot lengths and placed at the curb will be collected by village personnel. Residents must call Don Gleason at 315-456-8485 to make arrangements. Burning remains prohibited within village limits.
