Canandaigua man taken into custody on warrant for child sex assault

  • Staff Report

A Canandaigua man wanted for predatory sexual assault against a child has been apprehended following an anonymous tip to law enforcement.

Daniel L. Sevigny, 43, was located at his residence on Chapin Street early Tuesday morning. The Ontario County Sheriff’s Office said its Warrant Control Unit responded to the home around 6:49 a.m. and took Sevigny into custody without incident.

The arrest followed a public call for assistance in locating Sevigny. Authorities had issued a bench warrant for his arrest in connection with a charge of predatory sexual assault against a child. He is now scheduled to appear in Ontario County Court to answer the charge.

Officials thanked the public for their help in locating Sevigny and noted the role of community cooperation in aiding law enforcement investigations.
