Governor Kathy Hochul approved legislation to ease the financial burden of septic system upgrades for property owners, according to Spectrum News. The law allows for up to 50% reimbursement on standard systems and up to 75% for enhanced ones, with maximums of $10,000 and $25,000 respectively.
The funding is part of the fifth round of New York’s Septic System Replacement Fund Program, aimed at reducing water pollution and protecting water resources across the state.
Officials say eligible counties will be notified of funding amounts soon. The program prioritizes environmental resilience and access to clean water, especially for regions like Long Island.
