Auburn man arrested for DWI after attempting to evade checkpoint

A routine DWI checkpoint on State Route 414 led to the arrest of an Auburn man late Saturday night, according to the Town of Seneca Falls Police Department.

Eugene Peek, 50, was taken into custody at 11:55 p.m. on March 15 after officers observed his vehicle trying to evade the checkpoint. Police stopped the car and determined Peek was under the influence of alcohol. A breath test later confirmed his blood alcohol concentration (BAC) was 0.08% or higher.

Peek now faces multiple charges, including Driving While Intoxicated (DWI) per se, an additional count of DWI, and Disobeying a Traffic Control Device.

After being processed, Peek was released with an appearance ticket. He is scheduled to appear in the Town of Seneca Falls Court at a later date.
