ICE arrests Columbia protest leader amid visa revocation

Federal immigration authorities detained a Palestinian graduate student who was active in last year’s anti-Israel protests at Columbia University. Officials revoked his visa and later his green card, claiming national security concerns, while his attorney argues the move is politically motivated.

The student, now in immigration detention, has not been informed of specific charges. His arrest follows increased government pressure on Columbia over its handling of campus demonstrations. Federal agencies recently cut $400 million in funding to the university, citing antisemitism concerns.
