Partisan divide widens on views of Israel, Ukraine, and Mexico

A new Gallup poll shows deep partisan divides in Americans’ views of Israel, Ukraine, and Mexico. Republicans favor Israel overwhelmingly (83% approval), compared to 33% of Democrats—a record 50-point gap. Views on Ukraine and Mexico also diverge sharply, with Democrats rating them more favorably.

Support for Israel among Democrats has dropped 14 points since last year, likely due to the Israel-Hamas war. Republicans view Russia and Saudi Arabia more positively than Democrats, while Democrats rate France, India, and Germany higher.

Despite partisan divides, Americans overwhelmingly favor allies like Canada, Japan, and Great Britain. Meanwhile, approval of Mexico, China, and Russia has risen since 2024, marking a shift in public sentiment.
