A Farmington man was arrested at Eastview Mall on Wednesday after allegedly switching barcodes on merchandise and leaving a Target store without proper payment, according to the Ontario County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies and mall security responded to an in-progress larceny at the store, where they took Frank Joseph Ayers, 41, into custody. Authorities say Ayers attempted to falsify business records by altering item barcodes before passing all points of sale without paying the correct amount.
Ayers was charged with falsifying business records in the first degree and petit larceny. He was issued an appearance ticket and banned from Eastview Mall property.
He is scheduled to appear in Victor Town Court at a later date to answer the charges.
