Leonard’s Express named to 2026 women-in-trucking workplace list

Leonard's Express, the Farmington-based transportation company, has been named to a 2026 list of top workplaces for women in trucking.

The Women in Trucking Association's announcement lists Leonard's Express among the companies selected by its magazine, Redefining the Road. The company is on the overall list, separate from the program's 30 highest vote-getters.

How the list was chosen

The association reviewed nominations against its qualifications before industry participants voted on the finalists. More than 18,000 votes were cast, according to the association. This is the ninth year of the recognition program.

The selection criteria include workplace cultures that support gender diversity, competitive pay and benefits, flexible schedules and work requirements, professional development and opportunities for advancement. The list spans motor carriers, logistics companies and equipment manufacturers.

Leonard's Express described itself as a family-owned, asset-based transportation provider with offices across the United States. Its announcement did not provide company-specific workforce figures or compensation data.

Company credits women who helped build the business

Leonard's Express used the announcement to highlight Patricia Johnson and Vicki Trotta, whom it credited with helping build the family-owned company into a national transportation and logistics business. The company is marking its 25th anniversary this year.

According to the company, Patricia Johnson continued to hand paychecks directly to employees even after direct deposit became common. It said she remained involved after retiring, advising the next generation of the Johnson family as it took over leadership.

CEO Kyle Johnson said his mother advocated for women in the workplace and was an equal partner in the company's growth. He credited employees for carrying forward the family's approach to the business.

The recognized companies are scheduled to be honored at the Women in Trucking Accelerate! Conference & Expo, set for Oct. 25-28 in Dallas.
