  • Staff Report

A Clifton Springs man was arrested early Friday morning on felony drunk driving charges after allegedly driving off the road while intoxicated, the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office reported.

Alberto A. Mejia, 31, of West Main Street, was taken into custody around 4 a.m. after deputies responded to a crash. Investigators say Mejia lost control of his vehicle and veered off the roadway. Upon arrival, deputies determined he was intoxicated and transported him to the sheriff’s office, where a breath test revealed a blood alcohol concentration of 0.14%.

Due to two prior DWI convictions within the past ten years, Mejia’s charges were elevated to felony-level offenses. He faces counts of felony Driving While Intoxicated, felony Driving with 0.08% or more Blood Alcohol Content, and Speed Not Reasonable and Prudent.

Mejia was taken to the Wayne County Jail and was scheduled for central arraignment later that morning.
