Canandaigua firefighter departs for job in Greece

Canandaigua is bidding farewell to one of its most experienced firefighters as Taylor Northrup completes his final shift with the City of Canandaigua Fire Department. Northrup, who began as a volunteer in 2015 before being hired as a career firefighter in 2017, is transferring to the Ridge Road Fire District in Greece to continue his career.

Over the years, Northrup became a vital member of the department, known for his extensive training and technical rescue expertise. As a rope rescue expert, swift water rescue technician, and New York State Fire Instructor, his departure represents a significant loss for both the city and town of Canandaigua.

His transfer marks the fourth firefighter to leave the department in the past three years, with two of his former colleagues also moving to Ridge Road. The Canandaigua Professional Firefighters I.A.F.F. Local 2098 acknowledged his contributions and wished him success in his new role, noting that his years of experience will continue to benefit the residents of Greece.
