An Auburn man was taken into custody after allegedly striking his 71-year-old father with a cellphone charger, causing head and facial injuries, during a domestic dispute on Thursday. Police say Matthew Malenick, 38, also damaged a porch railing before fleeing the scene.
Officers later found Malenick nearby and arrested him without incident. He faces felony charges of assault and weapon possession, along with a misdemeanor criminal mischief charge.
Malenick was processed at police headquarters and taken to Cayuga County Jail for arraignment.
