Cayuga County Clerk Brian Scanlan resigned Tuesday, stepping down in the second year of his four-year term. According to The Citizen, Scanlan cited a desire to focus on his family.
As clerk, he worked to digitize records and advocated for DMV staffing. Office relocations and budget constraints posed challenges during his tenure.
County officials will discuss an interim plan until Hochul appoints a replacement. Meanwhile, the clerk’s office remains operational. Legislative efforts to increase revenue and preserve DMV jobs continue in his absence.
