Seven people accused of torturing and killing Sam Nordquist, a transgender man from Minnesota, were arraigned Tuesday, pleading not guilty to multiple charges, including first-degree murder, kidnapping, and aggravated sexual abuse. All were denied bail.
Investigators allege the suspects abused Nordquist from Jan. 1 until his death on Feb. 2 at Patty’s Lodge in Canandaigua, subjecting him to physical and sexual violence while depriving him of food and water. His body was later found in a Yates County field.
One suspect, Precious Arzuaga, is also accused of forcing two children to participate in the abuse. Prosecutors have requested an order of protection for them. The suspects will face further court proceedings in Ontario County.
