From no candidates to four: Odessa will have four-way race for mayor

  • Staff Report

Concerns over a lack of interest in replacing outgoing Odessa Mayor Gerry Messmer have been dispelled, as four candidates have filed to run in the March 18 election.

Katherine Wilkens, Daniel Heichel, Dustin Carnes, and Ronald Greschler are all seeking the two-year position.

For the village board, Cindy Emerson is the only candidate for one of two open trustee seats, with the other likely to be filled by appointment.

Incumbent Ronald Goossen, who has served as Village Justice since 2009, is running unopposed for another four-year term.
