Syracuse men’s lacrosse improves to 3-0 with win over Towson

The No. 2 Syracuse men’s lacrosse team dominated No. 17 Towson with an 18-7 victory on Monday night at the JMA Wireless Dome, fueled by a seven-goal fourth quarter.

The Orange improved to 3-0, outscoring the Tigers 13-3 in the first and final quarters while shutting them out for the last 19:56 of the game.

Luke Rhoa led Syracuse with four goals, while Owen Hiltz paced the team with seven points (three goals, four assists). Michael Leo, Finn Thomson, and Joey Spallina also contributed multi-goal performances. In total, eight different Orange players found the back of the net.

Syracuse struck early with two goals in the opening minutes, setting the tone for a 6-3 first-quarter lead. Hiltz and Rhoa extended the advantage before halftime, with ‘Cuse holding a 9-5 edge. The second half was all Syracuse, outscoring Towson 9-2 and keeping the Tigers off the board entirely in the fourth quarter.

The Orange have now won nine of the last 10 meetings against Towson. Next, Syracuse faces its first road challenge of the season against No. 4 Maryland on Saturday, February 15, at SECU Stadium.
