Governor Kathy Hochul signed legislation allowing providers prescribing medication abortions to list their practice name on prescription labels instead of their own. This measure strengthens New York’s shield law, protecting providers and patients from harassment and retaliation amid restrictive abortion laws in other states.
Hochul emphasized New York’s role as a safe haven for reproductive freedom. The legislation builds on the Reproductive Freedom and Equity Grant Fund, which provides financial and infrastructure support for reproductive health services.
Officials reaffirmed their commitment to safeguarding access to care and defending medical professionals across the state.
