Nine Wayne-Finger Lakes high school basketball games were played on Wednesday night, with most of the action coming from the girls’ side.
Senior Jayla Bell headlined the night, dropping 26 points to lead Lyons past Williamson/Marion, extending their win streak to seven. Meanwhile, the Marcus Whitman boys blew past Midlakes.

The Panthers came out strong, building a 22-8 lead in the first eight minutes and extending their advantage to 19 by halftime. Their dominance continued in the third quarter, stretching the lead to as many as 31 points as Gananda rolled to a bounce-back victory, splitting the season series with the Eagles. Clyde-Savannah has lost three of its last four.

The Lions never trailed and held a nine-point lead entering the fourth quarter. The Marauders mounted a late comeback, trimming the deficit to one with 1:42 remaining. However, senior Jayla Bell took over in the final moments, scoring nine points in the last 70 seconds to help Lyons pull away and complete the season sweep.

The Wildcats came out strong, racing to a dominant 28-4 lead in the first eight minutes and extending their advantage to 41-9 by halftime. Despite missing Diallo Lewis, the Screaming Eagles fought back in the second half, outscoring Marcus Whitman 35-26. However, the 32-point halftime deficit was too much to overcome. With the victory, the Wildcats have won two straight following a season-long three-game losing streak.
