Hochul wants $400M to revitalize Albany: Selling it to lawmakers will be a challenge

Governor Kathy Hochul’s State of the State agenda includes a $400 million investment to revitalize Albany, focusing on public safety, downtown development, and cultural projects. The proposal allocates $200 million for initiatives like state police presence and repurposing vacant properties to attract foot traffic and boost safety.

The plan ties into larger efforts to reimagine Albanyโ€™s infrastructure, including I-787 and the Livingston Avenue Bridge Project. Additionally, $150 million is earmarked to modernize the state museum at the Empire State Plaza.

State Senator Pat Fahy praised the plan as transformative, though she acknowledged the challenge of securing legislative approval for the funding.
